The latest release of our Seyval Blanc features the firm forward acidity while maintaining a strong mid palate and latent finish. This bone-dry wine delights the palette with notes of grapefruit, green apple, hay and melon.
Aromas of pear, lime, and grapefruit. Flavors of apple, citrus and candied almond.
Vineyard sits at ~850ft with a slight northern slope. Soil is primarily decomposed green stone and montmorillonite clay. 2/3 of the vines were 3 year old, 1/3 of the vines were 17 years old.
Whole cluster pressing, juice settled over night in tank. 1/2 the juice was racked and fermented in barrel the other 1/2 was racked and fermented in tank. Once fermentation complete, the two lots were blended together and aged on chardonnay lees for 6 months.
2015 was a good vintage in Virginia with consistently warm, dry weather throughout the growing season. The fruit came in with good phenolics, and balanced chemistry. Whites were picked about 2 weeks earlier than previous years, but with optimal ripeness.
