Aromas of bramble fruit , baking spice, anise and leather are complemented by reflecting flavors of chewy red fruit, clove, vanilla and granite on the palate.
Planted in 1998 Glenway is our OG estate vineyard. The vines are coming into their prime, often given the wines incredible balance of tannin, acid and structure. The vineyard is 900' elevation is a gentle northeast slope. The soil is comprised of green stone, red clay and shale.
The fruit was destemmed without crushing and fermented stainless-steel with temperatures not rising above 88F. 1-2 pump-overs a day were employed for gentle color and tannin extraction.
2017 was a very high quality vintage with higher than normal yields. The growing season was hot and dry allowing for optimal ripening and acid retention in both red and white cultivars. Fruit was picked 10-14 days earlier than the previous vintage and came in with ideal physiological ripeness.
