Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
With a few moments in the glass the aromas of dried cherry , papaya, peeled plum skin and tobacco leaf great the nose. On the palate there is elegant tension between acid and tannin complemented by flavors of red stone fruit and blueberry on the mid palate, giving way to a latent savory finish.
Vineyard Notes
Indian Springs is one of our most complex and beautiful vineyard sites. Soils range from heavy shale and limestone, to quartz, greenstone and montmarillonite clay. The site sits at 1400' elevation with a South Easterly aspect. This vineyard consistently has the lowest precipitation of all our vineyards and produces well balanced, structured fruit.
Production Notes
The fruit was destemmed without crushing and fermented stainless-steel with temperatures not rising above 88F. 1-2 pump-overs a day were employed for gentle color and tannin extraction.
Winemaker Notes
2017 was a very high quality vintage with higher than normal yields. The growing season was hot and dry allowing for optimal ripening and acid retention in both red and white cultivars. Fruit was picked 10-14 days earlier than the previous vintage and came in with ideal physiological and chemical ripeness.
