The most recent addition to our wine program! A primary blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Eighteen or 'lot eighteen' is a wine makers blend from the eighteen different lots of our red grapes.
Aromas of cherry, anise and all spice. Flavors of brioche , strawberry and balsam
One vineyard sits between 900' and 1200' elevation. Southeast aspect, with 10% grade. Rocky soil comprised of shale, limestone and clay. The other is a similar elevation but is comprised of green stone and quartz with a Southwest aspect.
The fruit for this wine came from 18 different blocks. We did whole berry fermentations in tank with pumpovers twice daily for 2 weeks. The resulting wine was aged for 10 months in American Oak.
2018 was a fairly wet year, with well above average precipitation. This created issues with fruit set, yields and quality. It took a lot of diligence in the vineyard and cellar to pull off a successful vintage. It helped that we had vineyards spread out all over the place. This allowed us to be very selective with which fruit would end up in which program.
